Hi, I'm Meg.

Great to see you stopped by!

I am a recent Chemistry graduate from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and finished it with the cherry on top: a minor in Technical Communication. I am passionate about skincare formulation, product design, and scientific communication.

I fell in love with formulation in 2021, even though I've loved personal care products my entire life. As an intern with Botanical Science, I was immersed in the CPG industry and knew I picked the right major! Botanical Science is a private label skincare and contract manufacturing facility in Carrollton, Texas.

In my free time, I enjoy baking, watching Breaking Bad, and researching different ingredients that are used in novel personal care formulations. This includes cosmetics, OTCs, and other household cleaning products. I have even started an Instagram account where I give reviews on different product formulas.

About my background in Chemistry

In my current position as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with CVS Pharmacy, I have been immersed in the American medical system. This position has helped me understand and appreciate the level of organization and communication that is involved with working in an industry where accuracy is critical. One mistake could cost someone their life!

In my career as a Chemist, I have had the opportunity to perform research as an undergraduate with the Pappas group at Texas Tech University. We look at the ways we can detect sepsis earlier and treat it without waiting days to receive results on older detection technology. Our group also designs nanoparticles used in imaging cancer cells. The importance of these biomedical technologies is something that deserves more spotlight. My interest in technical communication specializes in scientific communication design, so life-saving technology can reach a wider audience.

Professionally, I have experience creating scientific presentations, assembling lab reports, and analyzing and interpreting data. In my career, I plan to reinforce my Chemistry background with communication skills and a love for scientific design.

My most proud moment was when I was giving a presentation to my senior-level Chemistry Communication class. My presentation was on Sun Protection Factors, or “SPF”. I felt myself lighting up as I was explaining the active ingredients and their chemical compositions. I designed the presentation myself, and after I delivered it, I received positive feedback and thoughtful questions from my peers.

This was the moment I knew that cosmetic science was a career meant for me!
